Hello! Stephanie & Jordan have pre-reserved rooms with a special set rate for the travel window of May 17-May 23, 2022.

Guests may arrive and depart whenever they’d like, but please note the resort requires a 3 night minimum stay. The special group rates are valid 3 days before and 3 days after this window.

As we all know, we are in unprecedented times and we understand that guests may have concerns about travel.

Resorts are currently allowed to be open to 50% occupancy to allow for social distancing.  Resorts are regularly selling out since they are held to this lower than normal occupancy. This is why we recommend booking early to get your first choice or room types and/or dates.

I have personally made 8 trips to Mexico since June 2020, all in the post-COVID era. I am also living in Playa del Carmen, Mexico for the month of February 2021. We are monitoring the situation closely and communicating with Stephanie & Jordan. If travel policies change for fall travel, we are ready to be nimble and work with the group to update timelines and deadlines if necessary.  Thank you!

Is COVID testing required for travel? Expand

Currently, Mexico does not require any type of negative COVID test to enter the country.

Effective January 26, 2021, the USA *does* require a negative COVID test to re-enter the US after international travel.

Nearly every resort (including Hyatt) is providing complimentary testing on-site at the resort for guests.

Do I need a passport? Expand

If you already have a passport, please check the expiration date. The U.S. State Department recommends that international travelers have 6 months of validity on their passport after their return trip date.

Passport processing was significantly delayed after offices were closed for several months in 2020.  While they have made lots of progress catching up, it is still a little slow. We recommend checking your passport now to see if you need to renew – please don’t wait until the last minute!

Is Travel Insurance available? Expand

Because group reservations at all inclusive resorts are pre-paid and non-refundable, travel insurance is encouraged to protect your investment.  Life is unpredictable; plans can change.

The cost of insurance is based on your age, your state of residency and the total cost of your trip. Due to this, travel insurance prices will be quoted for each individual guest.

• Without insurance, there are no refunds should your plans change
• Without insurance, you will also not have any medical coverage for mishaps or catastrophic events.
• Your US health insurance will likely not work outside of the United States; please read the FAQ below for more detail.

This means that the group has paid a deposit to pre-reserve rooms for your group.

• The couple has signed a contract with the resort and has committed to a minimum number of rooms
• Only rooms booked with Alpaca Your Bags Travel count toward this contract
• The resort has a 3 night minimum stay requirement, but you are welcome to  come earlier or stay later!

Can we come earlier or stay later? Expand

Absolutely! ​If you would like to stay for dates before or after this date window, that is no problemo!

What happens if I don’t book with Alpaca Your Bags? Expand

The couple has paid a deposit to pre-reserve rooms for your group. They have a group contract that allows them to offer additional benefits for their guests.

There are several reasons why you should honor the group’s wishes and book the hotel portion with the group:

• The group has worked with me to negotiate a contract for the ENTIRE group. This includes a special set rate and included transportation.
• Groups are given priority status at the resort, so you might miss out on some VIP treatment.
• Groups are given priority room assignments, so if you book directly, you’re likely getting a room that couldn’t be sold to a group. It will be leftover inventory, probably in a undesirable location away from everyone else.
• Groups are given priority in terms of an oversold situation. If the hotel over sells, your group is protected but his reservation is not. You could be walked to another location.

Guests who do not book within the group contract unfortunately:

• Will not get the group rates
• Will have to pay up front vs. over time.
• Will not receive any pre-departure, trip support or post-trip support from me.
• Unfortunately I cannot assist with travel arrangements made outside of the group, nor can I assist in the event of an emergency.

 

How do I get a quote for my room? Expand

All quotes start with the reservation form. Fill out that form and I will get back to you with a quote.

​In your reservation form, make sure to include the ROOM TYPE you want to book. See below for info!

I am sharing a room with another invited guest. How does that work? Expand

Yes! Please coordinate with your roommate and designate ONE person to fill out the reservation form.

Reservation forms should be one per ROOM, not one per person. When I get your form, I will email both of you and explain next steps.

If you and your roommate live at different addresses, please make sure to include the second passenger’s contact info. This can go in the notes field.

Is there a payment plan? Expand Yes!  Initial deposits are due on November 3, 2021 There are no set requirements for payments, as long as final payments are made by the deadline.
Final payments are due on February 10, 2022. What about airfare? Expand

While the group requests that you book your room with the group, you are welcome to book your own airfare.

If you book your own air, please forward your air confirmation email to me no later than March 10, 2022.  This is how we schedule your transportation pick up at your destination.

If you would like assistance with air, we are happy to help! There is a $25 ticketing fee included in all of our air quotes.

Guests who do not submit their air information by the deadline will forfeit their included transfers.

Can I book my airfare with miles or points? Expand

You are welcome to book your own airfare however you’d like (cash, points or miles).

​Due to contract deadlines, we recommend booking your hotel room as early as possible and adding air when you’re ready.

If you book your own air, please send me the confirmation by March 22, 2022  so I can schedule your ground transportation.

Guests who do not send their air by the deadline will forfeit their included transfers.

Guest are welcome to book their own airfare at their leisure, or I can help (ashley@alpacayourbags.com) . All air quotes from Alpaca Your Bags Travel include a $25 ticketing fee.
