Rebecca and Benjamin are not your average bride and groom. This lovely couple met in the most stable of places (pun intended) and have been on a wild ride ever since.
With their hearts deeply connected to the equestrian world, Rebecca—a professional equestrian and coach—and Ben, a farrier with an M.D., decided to swap stables for sandy beaches to say “I do.” They spend most of their year traveling to horse shows, but for their wedding, they’re embracing a fresh new adventure.
Keep scrolling to see how Rebecca and Benjamin turned their destination wedding dream into reality — stress-free and fun, with the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, letting guests do their own thing, like the free-spirited horses they work with every day.
What were your biggest fears when planning a destination wedding?
Having to deal with the guests’ travel questions, and feeling like I’d be stressed with everything there. It was really the opposite!
Is there anything about the actual destination wedding experience that surprised you?
Just how much help the resort is, our planner was amazing!
What is your favorite memory of your destination wedding?
The reception! It was surreal to have fireworks go off in that setting. The reception on the beach was the most fun. We loved every second and it went by too fast!
Did you splurge on anything travel or wedding related? If so, what was it and was it worth it?
My dress…. and yes I think it was! I felt super confident in it.
Did you attempt to *save* on anything travel or wedding related? If so, what was it and was it worth it?
Yes, we brought our own wedding cake topper. I also brought the guest book and a few other small items like that. I just went through the invoice from the resort and brought along one other suitcase.
If you could change anything with your wedding (planning, the day itself, the location, resort, ANYTHING) – what would you change?
I wish I would’ve booked a video for the entire reception. I booked for the ceremony and I regret not doing it all because the reception was a dream. The other thing I’d probably change would be to ask for our room to be separate from our guests, we were next door to my husband’s parents so it was a little awkward when getting romantic if you know what I mean lol!!
What kind of feedback did you get from your guests?
They said it was the best wedding they’d ever been to!
Now that you’ve been through it, what is your #1 best piece of advice for wedding couples entering the planning process?
Don’t stress out… we literally showed up with almost no plan and pulled off the most fun beautiful wedding! In hindsight I wish I would’ve just done my own makeup because you sweat so much and you know yourself. I also didn’t do any practice for hair or makeup. I enjoyed the trip and guests instead and I don’t regret that at all!
In what ways did Alpaca Your Bags Travel make this less stressful for you?
Every way! Ashley never missed a beat. Even while going through probably the toughest thing I can imagine. I have recommended your service to everyone I see get engaged lol!
