Real Destination Wedding: Jordan & Stephanie in Cancun (Hyatt Ziva Cancun)

When Stephanie made her first appointment with me, I could already tell that I liked her and Jordan a lot. After all, they love the outdoors and festivals, two of my favorite things. The kicker was when she shared how they met: Jordan and Stephanie met through a mutual friend at one of my favorite events- drag queen bingo.  

When we first chatted, both Stephanie and Jordan wanted their wedding to be memorable for their guests, and themselves. Funny moment: Jordan thought that Stephanie will be a bridezilla & Stephanie thought the same way about Jordan! 

Spoiler alert: Not one bridezilla in this duo! I was thrilled when they chose one of my favorite resorts- Hyatt Ziva Cancun.

Real Wedding Q&A With Stephanie and Jordan!

What were your biggest fears when planning a destination wedding?

The cost. We worried that the cost was going to be too much for us to afford what we wanted.

Is there anything about the actual destination wedding experience that surprised you?

How relaxing it was to actually plan!

Did you attempt to save on anything travel or wedding related? If so, what was it and was it worth it?

We attempted to save on our cake toper by making the E and we saved on favors by bringing paper fans. It was worth it because we didn’t want to take favors that wouldn’t go to good use and become a waste!

If you could change anything with your wedding (planning, the day itself, the location, resort, ANYTHING) – what would you change?

If we could change it now, we would have decreased the number of guests to make it a smaller affair. We also would have stayed longer than our guests (Ashley note: They told me later that they wanted more solo time, which I agree with! I regret that about my own destination wedding also!

Now that you’ve been through it, what is your #1 best piece of advice for wedding couples entering the planning process?

Go with your gut. This is *your* wedding day. Both you and your fiance should have the final say in all aspects of the planning. Don’t let other people influence or alter your experience!

In what ways did Alpaca Your Bags Travel make this less stressful for you?

Alpaca Your Bags was very helpful and easy to work with to coordinate travel. Guests loved the remidner emails and payment reminders. Ashley helped us with the entire process…  From selecting a resort to coordinating our preview trip. We knew we wouldn’t have to worry about providing guests details outside of our wedding invitations because your team kept our guests informed of travel tips and excellent information for what to expect at an international airport. This was a huge relief for us as we had several first time international travelers.
