Rena and Torrey both loved the beach for as long as they could remember, so they knew that their dream destination wedding had to be in Jamaica. 

Their love for the beach made them eager to have a romantic ceremony with a gazebo or pier, and a terrace overlooking the sea. They also wanted their guests to experience the thrill of adventure, including snorkeling, zip-lining, ATV rides, and golf.

Knowing all this, we instantly thought of Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay in Jamaica and how it would be the perfect resort for this beach-loving couple! Its stunning white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters provided the perfect setting for their medium-sized wedding.

Located in the heart of Montego Bay, Secrets Wild Orchid is a gorgeous resort! Couples (as well as me) are always blown away by the stunning views of the Caribbean Sea, the elegant atmosphere, and the wide range of amenities and activities.

The resort offers things like multiple pools and jacuzzis, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a world-class spa with luxurious treatments, and several restaurants and bars with delicious Jamaican food and drinks. Real Wedding Q&A with Rena and Torrey!

What were your biggest fears when planning a destination wedding?

Doing all the planning via email, not being able to physically talk to the coordinators, and not seeing the decor and venue in person. All that was a little nerve-wracking for me.

Is there anything about the actual destination wedding experience that surprised you?

How well everything was organized and put together. The whole wedding experience with the resort was nice, easy, and absolutely amazing.

What is your favorite memory of your destination wedding?

Everything honestly. We loved everything about it.

Did you splurge on anything travel or wedding related? If so, what was it and was it worth it?

Yes! We got a DJ and added flowers to the ceremony venue, which made it even more beautiful. Ashley also hooked us up with a private car to and from the airport, which was really nice and we enjoyed that.

Did you attempt to save anything travel or wedding related? If so, what was it and was it worth it?

I don’t think so. We got what we wanted and we were prepared to pay whatever since we had been saving for a year leading up to it.

If you could change anything with your wedding (planning, the day itself, the location, resort, ANYTHING) — what would you change?

Absolutely nothing! Everything was so perfect and amazing, and everything I could’ve dreamed of.

What kind of feedback did you get from your guests?

Wedding of the year! It was the most fun they ever had at a wedding and they had nothing but great things to say about it all. Everything was so, so beautiful.

Now that you’ve been through it, what is your #1 best piece of advice for wedding couples entering the planning process?

Definitely hire Ashley as a travel agent for your destination wedding! Ashley was amazing — she did everything and helped everyone get there with no issues. She hooked us up for sure, and I couldn’t be more pleased working with her. Making this whole destination wedding with 28 guests was easy and enjoyable for us.

In what ways did Alpaca Your Bags Travel make this less stressful for you?

Everything — they did everything! I couldn’t be happier about finding them and working with them  through this whole experience.
