Looking for the perfect all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic? Here at Alpaca Your Bags Travel, we help families plan perfect vacations and couples plan dream honeymoons & destination weddings. If you’re looking for an affordable all-inclusive resort destination that’s easy to access from the US with beautiful beaches – look no further than Punta Cana and La Romana.
Bet you didn’t know: I actually got married in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic! It will always have a special place in my heart for this reason!
As soon as the weather starts to turn chilly here in the US, many of us start dreaming of warm beaches and sunny family vacations. And we love planning family trips to the beautiful all-inclusive resorts in the Dominican Republic.
There are two main destinations we recommend in the DR: Punta Cana on the Atlantic Ocean and La Romana on the Caribbean Sea.
You’ll find family-friendly all-inclusive resorts in both locations, with plenty of golden or white sand beaches and lots of activities to entertain the kids.
Fun fact: I actually got married in the Dominican Republic, so I’ve got a major soft spot for this gorgeous destination.
Couples looking to host their destination wedding in Punta Cana or La Romana have many options. There are all-inclusive resorts and picture-perfect ceremony locations for every couple.
Uvero Alto (in Punta Cana) is a great spot if you’re looking for golden sand and crashing waves. Or check out the white sand and turquoise Caribbean waters of La Romana.
Travel to the DR is easy and direct from most of the United States. This is just one reason we love it for families and destination weddings alike.
Regardless of your final destination, you’ll fly into Punta Cana International Airport. If you’re staying in Punta Cana, you’re close to your all-inclusive resort upon arrival! If you’re heading to Cap Cana specifically (and this gated community is worth a visit!), you’ll have a 20-minute drive to your destination.
It takes about 75 minutes to drive to La Romana from the airport. But the extra time in the car is well worth it for the soft white sand and calm Caribbean waters.
While I personally love relaxing on the lovely beaches in Punta Cana and La Romana, a little adventure is always a welcome break. And if you’re traveling to an all-inclusive resort with kids, you may want to schedule two or three excursions to keep everyone entertained.
Here are some of our favorite activities that you can easily access from your all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic:
Take a boat to this beautiful island where you can spend some time relaxing and enjoying lunch before checking out the amazing starfish that hang out around the sandbar.
Whether you spend the entire day snorkeling in the crystal clear waters or hop onto a Catamaran for a sunset sail, you can’t go wrong with boating in the Dominican Republic. Romantic sailing trips are perfect for newlyweds or couples, while the entire family will enjoy a day out at sea.
With multiple caves, caverns, and cenotes (natural lagoons) included inside the unique landscape of Scape Park, there’s enough to keep you entertained for the whole day. Be sure to check out the renowned and very popular Blue Hole (El Hoyo Azul).
You can start your adventure flying through their zip Lines, then cool off at the famous Hoyo Azul, and finish with a Catamaran Cruise with an open bar. Sounds like a pretty awesome day, right?
After Saona, Catalina Island is probably the most popular day trip excursion in Punta Cana. Catalina Island lies 1.5 miles from the southeastern shore of the Dominican Republic, in the Caribbean Sea. It’s made of coral stone and surrounded by one of the most diverse ecosystems in the Caribbean Sea.
This island is popular among divers and snorkelers thanks to the wall of coral that surrounds the island.
At Alpaca Your Bags Travel, we help you customize your trip to fit your needs and we take the stress out of planning.
