As we all know, we are in unprecedented times and we understand that guests may have concerns about travel.

Resorts are currently allowed to be open to 50% occupancy to allow for social distancing. Resorts are regularly selling out since they are held to this lower than normal occupancy. This is why we recommend booking early to get your first choice or room types and/or dates.

I have personally made 9 trips to Mexico since June 2020, all in the post-COVID era. I also lived in Playa del Carmen, Mexico during winter 2021. We are monitoring the situation closely and communicating with Ashley & Andrew. If travel policies change for fall travel, we are ready to be nimble and work with the group to update timelines and deadlines if necessary. Thank you!

Is COVID testing required for travel? Expand

Currently, Mexico does not require any type of negative COVID test to enter the country.

Effective January 26, 2021, the USA *does* require a negative COVID test to re-enter the US after international travel.

Nearly every resort (including Hyatt) is providing complimentary testing on-site at the resort for guests.

As of March 2021, being vaccinated is not a substitute for testing.

Do I need a passport? Expand

If you already have a passport, please check the expiration date. The U.S. State Department recommends that international travelers have 6 months of validity on their passport after their return trip date.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE CHECK YOUR PASSPORT EXPIRATION DATE TODAY to see if you need to renew your passport! Don’t delay… passport processing times are delayed due to the temporary pause in operations earlier this year.

Can we come earlier or stay later? Expand

If you would like to stay for dates before or after this date window, that is no problemo!

What is a room block? Expand

This means that the couple has paid a deposit to pre-reserve rooms for your group.

The couple has signed a contract with the resort and has committed to a minimum number of rooms
Only rooms booked with Alpaca Your Bags Travel count toward this contract
The resort has a 3 night minimum stay requirement, but you are welcome to come earlier or stay later!

How much will this cost? Expand

The rates listed are PER PERSON and include:

Hotel Accommodations
All Inclusive Meal Plan – Also includes all beverages including alcohol
Round trip shared transportation between the destination airport & your resort
Hotel, Tax & gratuities
All wedding events & activities

Optional Travel insurance is available to protect your investment. See insurance FAQ below for more details.

What if I book and need to cancel? Expand

Since all inclusive resorts are pre-paid and non-refundable, travel insurance is encouraged to protect your investment. Life is unpredictable; plans can change.

The cost of insurance is based on your age, your state of residency and the total cost of your trip,

Due to this, travel insurance prices will be quoted for each individual guest.

If you plan to book your own air, we can include your air in the insurance coverage – just let me know at booking
Without insurance, there are no refunds should your plans change
Without insurance, you will also not have any medical coverage for mishaps or catastrophic events. Your US health insurance will likely not work outside of the United States; please read the FAQ below for more detail.

What happens if I don’t book with Alpaca Your Bags? Expand

The couple has paid a deposit to pre-reserve rooms for your group. They have a group contract that allows them to offer additional benefits for their guests.

There are several reasons why you should honor the couple’s wishes and book the hotel portion with the group:

The couple has worked with me to negotiate a contract for the entire group. This allows the couple to offer some amazing and fun surprises for all of you.
These events and special amenities are based on a group minimum and the couple is required to meet that minimum number of rooms. Rooms booked outside the group contract do not count toward this minimum.
Groups are given priority status at the resort, so you might miss out on some VIP treatment.
Groups are given priority room assignments, so if you book directly, you’re likely getting a room that couldn’t be sold to a group. It will be leftover inventory, probably in a undesirable location away from everyone else.
Groups are given priority in terms of an oversold situation. If the hotel over sells, your group is protected but his reservation is not. You could be walked to another location.

Guests who do not book within the group contract unfortunately:

Will not get the group rates
Will have to pay up front vs. over time.
Will not receive any pre-departure, trip support or post-trip support from me.
Unfortunately I cannot assist with travel arrangements made outside of the group, nor can I assist in the event of an emergency.
Finally, you are not “officially” recognized by the hotel as being part of our event. The hotel group contract and wedding event pricing are planned in tandem.

Guests staying off property will be charged a day pass to attend the wedding events. The resort has the right to stop selling day passes if the property reaches 90% capacity or greater. Off-property guests are welcome for 30 minutes prior to the ceremony start and will be asked to vacate the premises 30 minutes after the event ends.

How do I get a quote for my room? Expand

All quotes start with the reservation form. Fill out that form and I will get back to you with a quote.

In your reservation form, make sure to include the ROOM TYPE you want to book. See below for info!

I am sharing a room with another invited guest. How does that work? Expand

Yes! Please coordinate with your roommate and designate ONE person to fill out the reservation form.

Reservation forms should be one per ROOM, not one per person. When I get your form, I will email both of you and explain next steps.

If you and your roommate live at different addresses, please make sure to include the second passenger’s contact info. This can go in the notes field.

Is there a payment plan? Expand

Yes! You may make your deposit any time before the due date (May 4, 2021).

You are welcome to pay on your balance any time you’d like, as long as the balance is paid in fully by the due date (July 29, 2021).

There are no set requirements for payments, as long as the balance is paid in full by the due date. We do ask that you make your payment a minimum of $150 per payment. Thank you!

What about airfare? Expand

While the couple requests that you book your room with the group, you are welcome to book your own airfare.

If you would like assistance with air, we are happy to help! There is a $25 ticketing fee included in all of our air quotes.

If you book your own air, please forward your air confirmation to me no later than September 7, 2021. This is how we schedule your transportation pick up at your destination.

Guests who do not submit their air information by September 7, 2021 will forfeit their included transfers.
