UNICO Destination Wedding: Emily & David

As Emily and David plan their dream wedding away from home, they felt overwhelmed by the many details to consider. They didn’t like the thought of planning all the little details and trying to communicate everything. But one thing’s for sure for them: they wanted an intimate wedding in a beautiful place with their loved ones.

That’s when they reached out to us. I instantly felt the connection I would have with this couple because of our many similarities. When they saw a wedding teaser video on our website, they instantly went “WOW! I want our wedding to be just like that.”

After a decade together, Emily and David are eager to tie the knot. More than the beautiful wedding backdrop, their decision for a destination wedding shows their shared love for the outdoors, adventure, and being close to family and friends.

What were your biggest fears when planning a destination wedding?

That people would not show up/back out last minute.

Is there anything about the actual destination wedding experience that surprised you?

Honestly no- I felt like I was prepared for everything based on the expectations set by Alpaca Your Bags 🙂

What is your favorite memory of your destination wedding?

Being in such a beautiful place with my closest friends and family. There is truly no other experience that I think will ever come close to how fun it was to be in Mexico with the group that we had. 

Did you splurge on anything travel or wedding related? If so, what was it and was it worth it?

We definitely spent some money on excursions and souvenirs! Highly recommend experiencing the culture through excursions/experiences and also on things to remember your trip and wedding. 

Did you attempt to *save* on anything travel or wedding related? If so, what was it and was it worth it?

We saved on decorations and tables and chairs. We went with the most basic tables and chairs the resort offered and also did not purchase any decorations and only spent on flowers and I’m so happy we did that. The location is so beautiful I do not think you need to spend money on nice chairs or decor. 

If you could change anything with your wedding (planning, the day itself, the location, resort, ANYTHING) – what would you change?

Honestly everything was perfect regarding the wedding, location, and resort. 

What kind of feedback did you get from your guests?

Everyone absolutely LOVED everything. So many said it was the best wedding they had ever been to!

Now that you’ve been through it, what is your #1 best piece of advice for wedding couples entering the planning process?

Don’t be scared that people won’t show up- the day is ultimately about you and your person. You will have fun and enjoy no matter who comes 🙂 

In what ways did Alpaca Your Bags Travel make this less stressful for you?

SO MUCH LESS STRESSFUL! The travel part is the one of the most stressful things about a destination wedding and it was so nice to know that all my guests could have their questions answered by a travel expert. I know my guests really appreciated it too which was amazing. So thankful we used alpaca your bags!
