united states re-entry requirements

Effective January 26, 2021 the US requires a negative COVID test to re-enter the U.S.
Testing is available at nearly every reputable resort; please see your travel documents for details.

Effective December 6, 2021  there are changes to TEST TIMING.
ALL travelers ages 2+ with a flight departing a foreign country bound for the US are required to show a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than ONE day before travel. This is regardless of vaccination status; all travelers must now test 1 day prior to travel.

Please read this entire FAQ as it answers almost every question on the topic:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-international-air-travelers.html

Your resort or hotel may offer testing, but I have used these in locations that do not include it:
Proctored Home COVID Tests Accepted for US Entry
(May not be accepted by other destinatiosn)

Official Resource: Mexico Covid-19 Monitoring System , last updated August 5, 2021

Vaccination Requirement: As of August 11, 2021, there is currently no vaccination requirement to enter Mexico

Pre-Travel Testing:  Mexico does not have a pre-travel testing requirement to entry the country.  Pre-travel testing is encouraged to stop the spread of COVID-19 but is not officially mandated

Health Form: Upon arrival, you may be asked to complete a health form, depending on the Mexican state you are traveling to. This form is to confirm you do not have symptoms and have not been exposed to COVID-19.

Upon leaving Mexico (all states), you will be required to complete this form. The form can be found here: https://www.vuelaseguro.com/

Local Regulations: Hotel Occupancy and tour capacity are reduced to allow for social distancing. Mexican states use a "traffic light" system to monitor current infection rates. This system is updated weekly, typically on Thursdays. The current stoplight "level" (green, yellow, orange, red) dictates hotel occupancy. Please see the link above for details.

Vaccination Requirement: As of August 11, 2021, there is currently no vaccination requirement to enter the Dominican Republic. However, fully vaccinated travelers who present their vaccination card may avoid the random airport testing conducted upon arrival (see below).

Pre-Travel Testing: As of August 11, 2021, the Dominican Republic does not require pre-Travel testing.  However, random testing is performed upon arrival at the airport. We strongly encourage pre-travel testing, just in case you are one of the random selectees.

Health Form:  On arrival to the Dominican Republic AND departure, you will be asked to complete an online health form, called an "e-Ticket".  This form will generate a QR code, which can be scanned upon arrival or exit. A separate form must be completed each time (one for entry, one for exit).  To save time, this form can be completed starting 72 hours prior to your arrival in the Dominican Republic.

Local Regulations: Hotel Occupancy and tour capacity are reduced to allow for social distancing. Some local areas (non-resort areas) may have a curfew in place.
